Captain Andrew Nicoll aged 27 died on 22nd December 2003 along with another soldier when the Gazelle helicopter they were flying in came down in a field near Derry, they had been on a routine flight from Omagh to Ballykelly army base.


Captain Nicoll was a talented sportsman and world class canoeist, who was shortly to depart for Australia to continue his training in preparation for the 2004 Olympics.


Captain Nicoll was single and came from Grantham in Lincolnshire.
