Lance Corporal Richard Larkin

of the Special Air Service

    Richard Larkin was one of four soldiers who were tragically killed while taking part in a deliberate operation east of Lashkar Gah on Tuesday 17th June 2008.  The vehicle in which they were travelling was caught in an explosion at approximately 3.40pm. The other three soldiers were Sarah Bryant, Sean Reeve and Paul Stout.  Another soldier was wounded in the incident and received treatment for his wounds at the UK Field Hospital at Camp Bastion.


    Richard Larkin was a reserve soldier, a Lance Corporal with 23 Special Air Service Regiment (TA)


His family made the following statement

   "Lance Corporal Richard Larkin was a beloved husband, father, son and brother whose tragic and untimely death will be deeply mourned by his family, friends and colleagues."
