Lance Corporal Alipate Tuisawau was killed by another Fijian national soldier on 25th August 2007.
Lance Corporal Alipate Naitaukei Tuisawau, was aged 30 and a member of the Adjutant General Corps attached to 1st Battalion The Duke of Lancaster's Regiment. He died after he was assaulted in a bar in Osnabruck.
Lance Corporal Tuisawau had served a tour of duty in Iraq before his regiment was redeployed to Germany.
Director of Army Personnel in the United Kingdom Colonel Barney Haugh met with the late Taisawau's father Ratu Kini Tuisawau and presented him with the Tuisaway Memorial Cup, which will later be given to Natauloa Primary School on Naira Island where he is buried. Colonel Haugh said the late Tuisawau was respected by his regiment, and that he was an excellent soldier and the regiment decided that the cup would be a fitting tribute, which the school will present for rugby.
His father Ratu Kini said he was proud of his son's achievement but that he still missed him very much and cries when he thinks of him.
A soldier was was charged with the murder and is now serving a three and a half year sentence.
