Captain David Patten

of the Parachute Regiment

David Patten, 38, a Captain in the Parachute Regiment was killed in Afghanistan on 27 June 2006. He was taking part in a planned operation in the Sangin valley, northern Helmand province, in the early morning of 27 June when his patrol came under attack. He and Sergeant Paul Bartlett were killed and one further soldier was seriously wounded. It is believed that they were serving with the SAS and SBS at the time.
