Paul Bartlett, 35, a Sergeant of the Royal Marines was killed in Afghanistan on 27 June 2006. He was taking part in a planned operation in the Sangin valley, northern Helmand province, in the early morning of 27 June when his patrol came under attack. He and Captain David Patten were killed and one further soldier was seriously wounded. It is believed that they were serving with the SBS and SAS at the time.
