THE West Fife villages are mourning a second death in as many weeks after a Newmills soldier died on his way back to Scotland for a friend’s funeral.

Lance-Corporal Jason Tierney (27), of Rosemill Court, died on 9th April following a road traffic accident in Münster, Germany. He was off-duty at the time. No further details were available.

L-Cpl Tierney was brought up in Newmills and attended Torryburn Primary and Inverkeithing High schools before joining the Scots Guards at 16.

He lived with his grandmother, Florence Paterson, and leaves his mother Rae Paterson, of Leighton Street, High Valleyfield, older sister Louise and younger brother Billy.
